Annual Orange County HIV/AIDS awareness poster contest
1990 Grand Prize Winner, José Rodriguez, California State University, Fullerton. (Harrison Houle, Instructor).Alcohol and AIDS: Know the Connection. How are alcohol and AIDS connected? Drinking or getting high affects your judgment and may lead to risky sexual activity or injection drug use and AIDS! Hotlines: National: 800-342-AIDS, Southern California: 800-922-AIDS, Spanish: 800-922-SIDA.Plan to enter the 1991 contest this fall! This year posters are to depict the concept of "Sharing the Challenge," which is the theme for World AIDS Day, December 1991. Posters should encourage people and communities to work together to slow this epidemic and respond compassionately to persons living with HIV/AIDS. $1,000 Grand Prize! Participation is open to students in elementary school, middle school/jr. high, high school, college, and the community at-large. Entries will be accepted through November 15, 1991. Created by a student at California State University, Fullerton, the winning poster includes a drawing from the waist down of football player and cheerleader. Beer bottles litter the floor, Behind them a large A decorates the wall. Depicted in the style of school letters for letterman jackets, the word AIDS spans the bridge of the letter A.
