"Worldwide, WHO estimates that over 8,000,000 people are now infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and that a little over one third - 3,000,000, are women. It is expected that 500,000 people will develop AIDS during the years 1990-1999 including about 200,000 women.By the end of 1992 a cumulative total of over 600,00 cases of AIDS will have occurred among women.
